YOUR THERAPIST - Paul Groombridge LSSM Dip, MIRSM

Brought to East Anglia during a long career in HM Forces, Paul has developed an exceptional understanding of a broad range of sports and physical activities underpinned by an active lifestyle. His primary sporting activity was as a competitive runner and he participated in the sport in all its guises including orienteering, cross country, marathons and ultra-marathons. He has a passion for most types of adventure sports and has holds instructor qualifications as a mountain leader, is a mountain bike instructor and a qualified Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) coach

These activities have seen, among other things, Paul compete in the gruelling six-day MARATHON DES SABLES in the Sahara desert which is recognised as the toughest footrace on earth and has cycled unsupported off road from Canada to Mexico along the CONTINENTAL DIVIDE TRAIL. Most recently, he acts as an assistant guide for the paddleboard expedition company SUP NORWAYwhich introduces international tourists to wild camping on the Norwegian fjords.

He operated as a volunteer with the East of England Ambulance Service for 10 years responding to medical emergencies throughout Norfolk and Suffolk. This has provided him with a well-rounded approach to patient care along with first-hand experience dealing with most types of medical emergencies

Paul trained and qualified as a Therapist under the tutelage of leading practitioner and author Mel Cash at the renowned London School of Sports Massage (LSSM) based in Regents College gaining a BTEC level 5 Diploma, the highest qualification that can be attained within the field of Sport and Remedial Massage therapy.

Having been an active sportsman throughout my life, I absolutely understand the importance of sport (both psychologically and physiologically) to the individual and am committed to the prevention of injury and where injury has occurred, the effective treatment leading to a safe return to sport or occupation.

Paul has been a volunteer for the LEHARA charity, travelling to the Everest region of the Himalaya to work as an assistant massage instructor. The charity was developed to provide training and subsequent employment for members of the Sherpa community through the treatment of climbers and trekkers visiting the region and the first Lehara massage training school was opened in the Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar.

He is a member of the Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage (ISRM). The ISRM provides a national register of fully qualified and insured therapists that ensures clients receive a high standard of treatment from practitioners that have been professionally trained and continue to maintain their skills through continual professional development (CPD).
